Chronic Conditions Prevention And Management

1. Introduction

There are several incidents are there those would be considered as the example of an earthquake in Australia. In 2015, there was an earthquake, but no severe damage has occurred. It was 2012 when another minor earthquake had been taken place. However, the earthquake of 2010 was unforgettable for the people of Australia. Massive damage has been taken place at that time. It has created a shock among the people in the country. Therefore, they were tremendously panicked in 2012 and 2015 when those minor earthquakes have been attacked the country. In this project, the learner would focus on the narration of the chronic condition by which a person may suffer. It has developed suitable strategies to as per the considered objectives of the learner.

2 Describing the settings, population or subpopulation of choices

It was a shocking day for the Australian people. A massive earthquake has occurred there which was 5.2 M as per the measurement of Richter scale. This earthquake has occurred near the city of  Kalgoorlie-Boulder. It was 8.17 at morning. Most of the people were in their sleep at that time. Orchiston & Higham (2016) have opined that earthquake is such a natural disaster that can destroy an entire civilization. However, it basically depends on its severity. For example, the earthquake in 2015 was not much severe. Even, due to the earthquake of 2012, very few damages have been taken place in that area. The severity of the earthquake of 2010 was the exception.

Daniell et al. (2016) has narrated that the residents as well as other buildings in Kalgoorlie-Boulder have been shaken badly due to that earthquake in 2010. However, it was blessed that no massive injury have occurred. In spite of that, such natural calamity was shoc ........

In spite of that, such natural calamity was shocking for everyone in the city. Most importantly, it should be noticed that earthquake has become a frequent situation in Australia. It is being happened in almost every two years. Thus, the citizen of Australia is quite panic about it. Earthquake is such a condition that leaves the post-effect which is known as the aftershock. It is also a critical situation as an aftershock can have enough capability to destroy the city as well. Therefore, the entire people of Australia were being warned about the aftershock as well.

On the other hand, Rajabi et al. (2017) have argued that no one can predict or rule anything, but it can be said that the aftershock in Australia is very minimal. Therefore, it was a ray of hope for the Australian people. The people in Kalgoorlie-Boulder  were mostly affected due to the earthquake in 2010. No such people were being affected due to this earthquake, but the historic buildings of this area have been damaged severely. The people in Kalgoorlie-Boulder  have affected directly, on the other hand, rest of the Australia was panicked due to the earthquake. Besides several historic building, the Boulder and 5 or 6 hotels at Burn Street have been affected seriously. Extensive damage has occurred to the Boulder Primary school.

It means the quake has affected in a vast form. Benavente, Cummins & Dettmer (2016) have opined that it was the largest quake in recent times. The people those were being directly affected, they have identified with severe post-quake shock later. That is why, when further quake happened in two other places in Australia, the people of Kalgoorlie-Boulder were tremendously panicked. Other than that, the school students were being affected in several ways like their school were being damaged, and it hampered their studies as well. Besides that, being a student of the school and over emotional due to the age, the students were very sad and waited for the recovery of their old school building. Even, the school owner was naturally being affected directly. The teachers as well as the sub-staffs all were being the victims of this quake.

Mohammadi, Bayliss & Ghachkanlu (2017) have discussed that the hotels in the area were being damaged extensively as the owners may pay a huge amount to renovate them properly. Thus, the owners along with the employees of the hotels have been affected. These owners have got a huge loss in their businesses as the hotels were closed until they are being renovated. In addition, the tourism department of the area has been affected severely. Various historic buildings were being damaged, and thus a massive number of tourists has been declined there. It has taken a long time until the buildings were being recovered. All of them were direct as well as the temporary shock for the residents. Post-quake shock is the main issue that has stayed for long in the minds of the people.

3. Project aim along with three SMART objectives

The aim of the project:

The primary aim of this project is to identify the psychological condition of the people after having such a panic of an earthquake in their minds.

SMART objectives

Objective 1: To understand the psychological condition of the people those have suffered from such natural calamity like earthquake

Specific

According to Mohammadi, Bayliss & Ghachkanlu (2017), the ‘S' in SMART objective indicates that the objective should be specific. The learner or the researcher should have the clear concept about what they want. In this project., it has been noted that the learner is quite aware of the requirement. That is why the first objective has been set by focusing on the psychological condition of the earthquake victims. This study is all about to identify the way to prevent as well as to manage the chronic condition. Therefore, this objective is perfect for this project.

Measurable

As stated by Ogbeiwi (2017), the goal should be measurable as it can have proper evidence. Therefore, the first objective of this study can get support from several pieces of evidence such as various documents those have noted about the earthquake and the victims. Other than that, the people would also be performed as the most important evidence here.

Attainable

Cormier & Elliott (2017) have commented that the researcher or learner should identify that if the goal is acceptable or not. In this project, the first goal is about to understand the psychological status of the victims. Therefore, it can be easily attained as the project would be carried on and the learner would implement proper strategies.

Relevant

Bjerke & Renger (2017) have stated that the relevancy of the goal indicates that if the objective is aligned with the project or not. This project has developed based on the chronic condition of the earthquake and to identify the ways by which it can be prevented and managed. In that case, this objective is most suitable for it as it would provide the basic concept about the condition which would help the learner to carry on the project in future.

Time table

Ratcliffe (2016) has contributed that it is further needed to determine a stipulated time within which the goal should be met. For meeting this objective, the learner has considered 4 weeks of time.

Objective 2: To identify the strategies by which the chronic condition can be managed as well as prevented

Specific

This objective is about to determine the strategy by which the chronic condition can be handled. This objective has been specified clearly to the learner, and it would help to carry on the further research as well.

Measurable

It can be measured as well because the evidence here would be the number of people those may be benefitted by the implementation of these strategies.

Attainable

There is no such issue that may make the goal unattainable to the learner. Development of such strategies is highly required as it may help to mitigate the issue.

Relevant

Developing suitable strategies is not at all irrelevant to the study. This study has asked to narrate the chronic situation as well find out the ways to reduce them. Thus, development of strategies has been demanded from the beginning.

Time table

The learner should remember that the objective would be met within the deadline. Therefore, the learner has decided to wind it up within 5 weeks form the starting of the project.

Objective 3: To strengthen the mental stability of the people as no such panic would occur in future

Specific

The learner here has specified the goal properly. This objective is about to develop such strategies that can strengthen the mental capabilities of the people those have already suffered due to such earthquake in Australia.

Measurable

Apparently, this objective cannot be measured as no such evidence would be placed initially. However, after proper implementation of the strategies the changes in the people would help to measure the objective as well.

Attainable

This objective can be achieved easily. For that, the learner needs to implement the required strategies.

Relevant

Apparently, this objective is not at all relevant to the fact of the project. This study has asked to focus on the prevention as well as management of the chronic condition. Therefore, it is also needed to ensure that no further distress can occur. It is next to impossible to take control over the natural calamities. Therefore, the people can only try to prevent it or to reduce the risk factors of it. In addition, the mental stability should be strong enough thus no further earthquake in future can create such panic in the minds of the victims. Such strengths would help the people to recover from the damage quickly.

Time table

The learner has considered 4 weeks of times for meeting this goal.

4. Selection of strategies to meet the aim and objectives

As per the primary aim of the project, the learner has decided to analyze the current mental situation of the victims. It would provide a knowledge about the post-quack trauma through which the people have been gone. Different strategies have been developed by the learner in support of each of the objectives. The strategies and their objectives have been narrated as follows:

Objective 1: To understand the psychological condition of the people those have suffered from such natural calamity like earthquake

For this objective, the learner has decided to take interviews of all the people those have witnessed the earthquake. The interview would arrange a scope of discussing the fact with them. Therefore, the people may get a chance to expose their fear and tension. On the other hand, the learner would get the chance to collect several data suitable for the project. Therefore, this objective would be met easily, and the psychological state of the people would become clear to the learner as well. This strategy is perfect for achieving this objective as the survey would not be able to explore the real condition of the people. Through the interview session, the learner would get the opportunity to share own experiences and to listen to them. It would create an interdependency and trust. Ultimately, the victims would express their feeling to the learner properly.

Objective 2: To identify the strategies by which the chronic condition can be managed as well as prevented

The learner has decided to suggest the victims for consulting with the psychologists as they need a strong mental support to overcome the horrible memory. It is not at all an easy task. It can be assumed that the people would be unknown to the learner. Therefore, this approach would not be appreciated by the victims. For that, the learner should keep patience and should convince them as the learner has full sympathy with them. In addition, the learner needs to take another step by convincing them about the importance of overcoming the mental trauma which has been occurred due to the earthquake (Mutch, 2016).

Objective 3: To strengthen the mental stability of the people as no such panic would occur in future

This objective is all about to enhance the mental strength of the people by which they would be able to fight to such condition in future. For achieving this objective, the learner has again decided to suggest the victims visit the psychotherapists. These specialists would be able to reduce the level of trauma and to boost up the confidence level among the victims. In addition, the learner has decided to suggest them for availing some practical training courses as well which would teach them the way by which they can survive due to an earthquake. It would help them to fight with the situation at least for some times. This is true that occurrence of a severe earthquake may not provide the opportunity for a fight against, but regarding minimal quake, this training would help (Clark et al. 2017).

5. Professional action plan

Timeline

1. To understand the psychological condition of the people those have suffered from such natural calamity like earthquake

Interviews of the victims.

The learner may talk to the victims and would discuss in this regard elaborately.

The people would feel relaxed as they would get an opportunity to expose their feelings.

The learner should show sympathy, and huge patients would be needed.

The learner

4 weeks

2. To identify the strategies by which the chronic condition can be managed as well as prevented

Arranging psychotherapists those may provide a mental support to the victims.

The learner may convince the people to visit the counsellors for getting support to reduce the mental trauma.

The declining number of victims or traumatized people may be the evidence of the outcome.

The learner should convince them, and for that again huge patience is required.

The learner

5 weeks

3. To strengthen the mental stability of the people as no such panic would occur in future

The learner has developed two strategies in this regard. One if psychological counselling and another one is practical training for being saved in the earthquake.

The learner here again should try to convince the victims to visit the counsellors as they can support them.

The people would be more confident, and the post-quack trauma would be reduced.

The patience is required here as well.

The learner

4 weeks

6. Conclusion

This project has discussed the chronic condition as well as the way to mitigate and handle them properly. The learner has considered the severe earthquake in Australia as the example of such critical situation. It has created a panic among the people. Thus, the learner has developed the strategy by which the level of trauma can be reduced. This project has developed some goals which need to be achieved by the learner.  In addition, the strategies for meeting all the goals have also been discussed here. The objectives have been shown in a tabular format, and SMART objectives have been created. Besides that, the action plan has also been featured in this assignment has been made based on the objectives as well as strategies.
