Understanding The Connection Between Job Satisfaction

Introduction

Job satisfaction is significant for every individual as this contributes to the development of the organization (Alessandri, Borgogni and Latham, 2017). The main role in the satisfaction lies with the Human resource manager as they deal with the satisfaction of the employees. Employees are the main resources of the organization as they contribute to the human wealth (Bakoti?, 2016). Thus, loyalty of the customers can be gained is required at every step so that they can retain skilled employees and use them at the time of the emergency. However, organizations often fail to identify the factors contributing to the dissatisfaction among the employees (Yousef, 2017).

Research aim

The study aims at understanding the relationship between job satisfaction and organizations commitment along with the significance of loyalty of employees towards organization. After the completion of the study, a new insight to the role of the HR would be gained.

Research objective

  • To evaluate the factors contributing to the satisfaction levels of the employees
  • To examine the dependency of job satisfaction on the loyalty of the employees
  • To recommend suitable strategies to the business organizations in increasing the number of committed employees through job satisfaction factors

Conceptual framework

Job satisfaction

Job satisfaction can be defined as the concept where an employee derives joy from getting involved with an organization. This often leads to the employee motivation and the outcome is the loyalty towards the organization (Azanza, Moriano and Molero, 2013).

Employee loyalty

Conceptual framework

Job satisfaction

Job satisfaction can be defined as the concept where an employee derives joy from getting involved with an organization. This often leads to the employee motivation and the outcome is the loyalty towards the organization (Azanza, Moriano and Molero, 2013).

Employee loyalty

Loyalty of an employee’s towards an organization can be explained with the term and are several factors that contribute to the loyalty like the remuneration and the behavior of the teammates.

Employee retention

Employee retention is a process by the organization where they are able to hold on to an employee for a long time that is skilled enough and can be helpful at the time of the emergency (Fu and Deshpande, 2014).

Organizational commitment

When a loyal employee commits to an organization and remains loyal by working for the organization for long time can be termed as organizational commitment. This is often the contributing factor to the job satisfaction.

Literature review

According to Watson(2017), the main aim of every organization is to retain the skilled employees so that they can maximize the profit for the benefit. However, the retention of the employees is only possible if there is employee satisfaction. Therefore, the loyalty of the employees can be gained with the due respect to the employee satisfaction and motivating them. Buckman et al., (2015) agreed with Hülsheger et al., (2013) with the opinion that all the employee retention, satisfaction and motivation are core functions of the HR department. There is close connection with the employees and the HR managers. Significantly, the organization contributes to the employee retention plans through the managers of the human resource department.

There are different factors contributing to the job satisfaction of the employees along with the loyalty towards the organization. One of the biggest factors is the remuneration that is received from the employees. If there is any dissatisfaction regarding the salary or the remuneration, there are high changes that the organization would lose the employee and fail in employee retention (Top et al., 2013). The expectation of the employees of paying them the desired amount within the stipulated time is necessary for the organization to fulfill. This not only helps them to retain but to gain the commitment of the employees at the time of emergency. Another factor contributing to the job satisfaction is the working environment and the support of the employees.

Job satisfaction and the loyalty of the employees are related to each other and the connecting factor between them is the human resource. The role of the HR cannot be avoided in any case as they form a bridge between the organization and the employees and help them work in cordial terms. On the other hand, Skaalvik and Skaalvik(2014) argued that it is the not the independent role of the HR to satisfythe employees but the whole of the organization has to be developed in such manner that it can help in contributing to the satisfaction of the employees. There are different factors contributing to the satisfaction of the employees and therefore, the culture needs to be developed better (Suma and Lesha, 2013).

The role that is played by the human resource manager is many, but the essential is to motivate the employees and keep them updated with the help of the training and developmental process (Biswas and Bhatnagar, 2013). This is enough to motivate the employees and with the upgradation of the skills, they would be able to perform better and give the best to all the organization (Peng et al., 2016).Building up a rapport with the teammates is essential as this helps in identifying the issues that the employees face while operating. They apply motivational theories in the organization, which further helps in boosting the spirit of all the employees.

Organizational commitment is another significant part that contributes to the development of the job satisfaction. With the involvement of the employee with the organization gives them essential boost to be loyal with the organization to the end of the service. Fu and Deshpande(2014) argued that the continuous commitment by any employee makes it difficult to move out of the organization and search for something new as this brings about lot of doubt in the minds of the employees. Unable to identify the opportunity costs, the employees remain within the organization and do not move out (Li et al., 2014). This gives the organizations opportunities to grab them with betterfacilities and retain them. Thus, satisfaction of the job takes over the dissatisfaction in the minds of the employees.

Methodology

Evaluation of the research question can be done comprehensively if the methods of data collection are suitable. There has to be a cyclical division of the research methodology technique so that successful research can be conducted with the required answers. Therefore, selection of the suitable techniques helps in evaluating the collected information in a manner that is actually required to meet the research objectives.

Positivism, interpretivism and realism are some of the research philosophies that can be applied to the any study. However, this would be effective to select the positivism philosophy, as this would help the research to view the information in the light of facts. This would be effective for the researcher, as this would help the study use information that is based on facts. Logical analysis of the collected can be conducted at a very short time (Mackey and Gass, 2015). It helps in defining the aim with the help of the collected data.

Deductive and inductive approach is suitable for the research study. The researcher would select deductive as secondary information is deduced from the previous literature. With the deductive approach, it would be effective to enlighten on the information that already exists in previous literature (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault, 2015). This is effective as inductive does not give such scope to explore the previous literature and there is very less scape for the researcher to develop new theories and models.

Out of the different research designs available, the researcher would select explanatory design, as it would help in evaluating the collected data from different aspects. This helps in analyzing the authenticity of the data from all aspects. However, it is significant also, as the other designs do not give the right angle to the data collected that can be used for the study.

For the research strategy, the researcher would be selecting the survey and the interview as this would be effective in collecting information for the study. This is essential in the sense this helps in collecting first hand information for the study. The interview gets hold of the managers who deal with the situation and can give the suitable information. On the other hand, the survey would help he researcher to collect data that is effective in a huge number.

Data collection would be conducted based on the secondary data and the primary data. This would be effective for the study. On the other hand, for the primary data would be collected on the interview and the survey, the secondary data would be collected from literary sources, and a link has been identified which has helped the research to collect suitable data on the study. The information has helped a lot to develop a concept on the same.

The sources would be primary and secondary sources. For the primary, information would be collected from the survey and the interview. This would be effective for the study and first hand, information would be collected to address the issue. The secondary information has been collected for the study from the different sources, which gives a clear idea about the satisfaction of the employees within an organization and the requirement of the satisfaction for the employees for organizational development.

The respondents for the interview would be selected based on the non-probability sampling technique where the respondents of the interview would be predetermined (Glesne, 2015). On the other hand, the technique that would be used to collect data for the survey would be probability-sampling technique. The reason behind would be that the some of the respondents might not take part in the entire process.

The research study would be conducted through qualitative as well as quantitative method. In the quantitative method, survey would be conducted on the employees of the organization so that the suitable information can be gathered. This would be conducted on 50 employees. On the other hand, qualitative method would be used to gather first hand information from interviewing three managers. This would help in gathering suitable information for the study.

The researcher here would follow all the ethical consideration to conduct the study so that suitable norms are followed. The respondents participating in the survey would not be forced to do so and they can move out at any point of the time. The norms of the data protection act would be followed so that the information collected from the survey and the interview can be safeguarded and used only for the purpose of the study. No information collected would be modified according to the requirement of the study.

After completing the study, it can be evaluated that selection of the suitable methodology is required for the study as this is effective in gathering the suitable information. The methods help in collecting secondary as well primary data for the study following all the ethical norms, which are to be followed while conducting the study.
