REFLECTIVE JOURNAL

REFLECTIVE JOURNAL

This assignment is a reflective self-journal aimed at providing insights into my experience gained through the cognitive learning process. The entire documentation of the journal is based on the progress report of the skills and knowledge I had acquired since the beginning of the process. This would include detailing on units covered, experience gained by taking up this group assignment, and overall learning absorbed from the process. I have summarized that in today’s combative era, distinguishable qualities through various learning processes are the only road to becoming the better version of ourselves. Thus the significance of my cognitive learning and self-development through the same, are discussed in the latter half of the journal.

Processes that individuals or groups have to go through for the aim of acquiring skills, knowledge, and understanding about a specific subject that can be later utilized for self-development, influencing actions, and taking measured decisions, are called learning processes (Smith and Church, 2018). Through this process, I learned that merging cognitive thinking with learning processes has a positive effect on acquiring new qualities and developing meaningful experiences. There are various departments of the learning process in which the cognitive learning process is a distinguished one because of its different take on how learning is perceived. Through detailed learning, it occurred to me that Cognitive psychology falls under a similar school of thought that has surfaced through the entire learning process and which has particularly earned my attention. The learning process of cognitive psychology attempts to study the intrinsic processes of cognition along with the thought patterns attached to it (Ritter et al. 2017). The fundamentals of this process aim at clarifying the degrees of my thinking and ways of retaining those thoughts. With solid cognitive learning strategies, I realized can evolve into a better learner and excel in my professional field. The approach to cognitive psychology was personally very enlightening since the basis of the process is to analyze behavior and study the behavioral approaches. Working in a group means having to encounter different behavioral patterns and thoughts and through cognitive psychology, the learning process became more coherent to me in the end. As an individual, I have been inclined towards human psychology, and learning the attributes of cognitive psychology has benefitted me not only personally but also mentally. It has also successfully maximized the involvement of my senses into active participation under varied circumstances. Besides learning the affirmative theories of the process, I also came across several of its downsides, individually as well as working as a group.

When working in a group that is entitled to draw a conclusion on their personal experiences regarding the cognitive learning process, the opinions are bound to vary on a few points; similarly to what I experienced. Gaining inspiration and providing the same in return throughout the process is one of the primary steps we had to develop in order to understand each other as group members. Among other satisfactory outcomes, I also learned that the cognitive learning process is an intrinsic as well as an extrinsic technique that increases overall efficiency when working in a group. Paying attention is another important task or rather exercise that we had to go through in order, to begin with, the learning process. It was mentioned to us that paying attention should be the basic step when wanting to learn and retain something for a longer period of time. Considering all that is mentioned previously, I was subjected to a twin situation when working in a group but also having to have my own intellect at work as a group member. Like everybody else, I was also guided by my trainer in letting me find my strength in the subject and then relating it to others, stating my opinion to the other group members, and giving my experience a vocal expression. Unlike traditional learning processes, cognitive learning deals in memorization and focus (Kirschner, Sweller, Kirschner, and Zambrano, 2018). My initial focus was on gaining quick knowledge but later it was drawn towards steady and proven ways of learning new skills, which can be retained in the memory for a longer span. Cognitive psychology produced the tiniest of results throughout the learning process because the study mainly revolved around the idea of attaining the knowledge of our own, as well as shared attributes and instincts.

At the end of the study, it had been ingrained in my mind and reasoning that cognitive psychology has remarkable results in helping with self-development. Self-development began when I was asked to chalk down the reverences and act upon them. I instantaneously became aware of the quantity of the work to be done and nothing like before, it dawned upon me that the quality and quantity of the work are the basis of developing a productive habit. The easiest way that I understood, to have a successful outcome in learning is to act on or augment interactive comprehension in order to develop a new state of understanding of the subjects been worked on. Besides gaining an immersive interest in the process, I also improved my problem-solving skills that gradually boosted my confidence. Problem-solving skills are a crucial aspect in self-development that I developed through the cognitive learning process helping me to manage challenges in a better way. Cooperative and collaborative learning is a by-product of any learning process and it had been evident in my scenario too. When I learned to collaborate with my group by interacting and participating in the process, the exchange of ideas and opinions began sprawling and bigger results came to the surface. In the gradual lapse of the study, I had learned cognitive strategies through my trainer, on how to develop thoughts and theories on a specific subject in a learning process.

It is noteworthy to mention that the learning process had proved to deliver me a good amount of knowledge about cognitive thinking and the alternative process of learning against the traditional ones. The skills and tips I had acquired throughout the learning process have also manifested positively in my personal boundary as well. The study has carefully explained the methods of applying the various processes for better awareness and behavioral patterns.
