Section 1: Introduction

On creating a professional development plan, the role intended during internship has evolved with self-directed initiative and learning to involve a high degree of individual choices. It is intended that to get maximum benefit from the experiences, success planning and thought process is required. The planning area would consist of self-awareness that would be developed through Self-awareness with Values and Motivators, Emotional intelligence, Power and Politics, Leadership and Personality traits. In case of opportunity awareness, a clear contrast would be made to visualize the internship area with a broader picture (Calderhead, 2012). Besides, it is important to assess the SODI model for the self-assessment area where strong interest is defined with scientific matters and a desire of developing the personal characteristics in working situations. Moreover, the decision-making and planning should also be addressed on making the decisions effective with the help of career planning. On the other hand, it is iterative that the goals could have a positive influence on the career success with personal relationships.

Section 2: Self-awareness

2.1 Personality

The personality insights that I have gained includes the values on which the customers can understand about the individual preferences. As opined by Loveland (2012), the personality characteristics also define about the Big Five, values and needs from communication areas such as tweets, forums, blogs and emails. On tailoring the individual customers for segmentation, the personalized product recommendations would be highly targeted with effective messages. From the Big Five Personality Traits, the major dimensions that I have obtained include the extraversion that is characterized with assertiveness, excitability, talkativeness and sociability.

This is where I find easy to make new friends and feel energize with the things around other people. In case of Agreeableness, the dimension is mostly defined on the attribute of kindness and trust (Council, 2013). Here, I feel the empathy and the concern needed for other people while Conscientiousness analyze about the high level of thoughtfulness. This is where I had paid attention to the details and enjoyed on a schedule that was effective. Neuroticism is mainly characterized by emotional instability and moodiness where I experienced stress factor a lot and was worried about the experience of the dramatic shifts. Lastly, the openness characteristic is analyzed with the insight and imagination so that things could be a bit creative, and in my experience, I have mostly focused on tackling new challenges with abstract concepts.

2.2 Values and Motivators

The values that I have defined have psychological constructs, which direct individual preferences and strategies for the achievement of a goal. While the orientation of a value is defined with a particular judgment on my feelings and the way I think. In case of attitudes, I feel that the outlook, which has expressed the values serve as an evaluation process with ideas, event situation and relationships. The value that I obtained in my assessment was mostly intrinsic and was absolute that were dramatic with the cultural changes. However, the motivators that I have analyzed define with the Mutually Beneficial Work Relationship where I have tried to build the trust factor and have helped the teams to adapt agility on changing priorities.

2.3 Emotional intelligence

The emotional intelligence activities that I have availed have a psychological state where I can manage the stress on being suffering from any depression. The abilities that I have included include Self-regulation that relates to the emotions where I have given the sophisticated time and the circumstance to manage them effectively. Besides, I have also included my social skills that could build interpersonal skills from the leadership area by influencing and managing the conflict situation.

2.4 Leadership

The leadership aspirations that I have developed in my career program shows that allowing a negative judgment could disrupt the goals and this could be ineffective to understand the value that I possess. Accordingly, it is important to take the ownership and strive for careers that work with a unique interface (Stewart, 2014). This is where the pursuit of action is relevant if I had met a failure or did not understand the thing positively. In case of leadership potential, I have defined my ability to display strong ability with the combination of learning skills so that engagement could be built with strong emotional commitment. However, the employees staying with the organisation should be involved with good interests.

2.5 Power and Politics

In terms of power, my ability should achieve the goals and make an upward influence on gaining effective compliance. This is where I have distributed the rewards, which are intended to be valuable. In case of Politics, I have refined my ability so that I can construct my public speaking skills with good presentation and information. Besides, the knowledge area could also influence by breaking a political campaign and understanding the right platform needed to develop the audience (Gess-Newsome, 2015). However, the influence from Power and Politics has been detrimental because this would help to coordinate with other groups or employees with their attitudes and behaviours.

Section 3: Opportunity awareness

3.1 My career

My career planning was defined in a broad frame where a continuous process was needed to initialize the decisions and the learning options. On visualizing a perfect internship, I would do an Internship in Telstra Corporation Ltd, which would support the roles and relationships of customers. The role given to me would be quite effective because this had a baseline to observe the departmental and the customer issues relentlessly. During the period, my career can have a position where the experiences that I may encounter with customer complaints and interactions demanded to build relations. This would offer me a good resistance to handle the teams and acquire knowledge with an effective change process in overall. However, my career could also shine for getting an interne as a Senior Customer Sales Executive.

However, the underlying assumptions that were intended on my career planning evoked as the limits of potential development set through my interests, temperament and intellectual abilities (Hennessy and London, 2013). Besides, I would set my individual experiences through involuntary attention that could decide development patterns uniquely with attitudes, interests and other personality variables. I would also devise a satisfaction measure where I can determine degree of motivation to accomplish. In case of potential alternatives, my working position in the company could judge with good leadership skills where I can have a vision that could pose good consideration to have effective influence and shared beliefs on measuring the common goals. Moreover, on choosing a solution where there was a problem for the company was also done quite good.

3.2 Industry sector and location

I would be doing an Internship in Telstra Corporation Ltd, which is an Australian network operator based in Melbourne. Telstra Corporation Ltd operates and builds telecom networks, markets voice, pay television, mobile internet access and other entertainments related to services and products. This also has a long history in Australia and originates together with the Australian Post as the governmental department. Besides, the company have good marketing distribution channels that have inherited resources and facilities from the Amalgamated Wireless Australasia Limited and Wireless and Cables (Nishimura, 2014). Telstra also have announced its goal for the customer service that could be fundamental on things to be done.

On Telstra, I would start my career area on a learning edge where I would be put in an 18-month program that would be challenging and varied. The program that I would be in is on the Human Resources area where I have to explore my territory with the game changers to delight what the customers offer in incentive ways. This could be quite innovative for the new businesses because Telstra has helped to make services readily available for Australians (Albion et al. 2015). This could be as an emerging technology where the sustainable findings could help to grow the cloud storage markets and mobile. Unlike, the programs expanded with the international ventures that could work effectively to grow the suite of the entertainment products. However, I would be very much open and supportive on working at the mentor, manager, and backing from the leadership team. On applying for the internship, I would also define a clear value and a vision that would work effectively with the community and the extracurricular activities.

On defining the opportunities and challenges, the internship has provided me positive outcomes for the Indigenous communities. This would embrace the new technologies where there could be significant barriers, which would benefit from the digital access. On closing this, there might not be any influence on the communities where and could put a bridge towards social equity (Huffman et al. 2014). From the internship, a meaningful area could evolve out that would help to define the projects such as the business improvement analysis or the effective customer service. Moreover, on joining the program could potentially help me to get a first step towards my career recognition. This would also help the top performers to have a wide opportunity for the full-time Telstra Internship.

Section 4: Decision making and planning

This section would make a contrast of the two models on problem-solving and decision-making process during my internship in Telstra. The first model is the Kolb’s Problem-Solving Model, which is defined in four areas. The first one is Concrete experience that is encountered with existing experience while the abstract conceptualization acknowledges on the rise of ideas with the modification of an abstract concept (Varela, 2012). On the other hand, active experimentation implies the learner with identified results, and on summing this, things would look very different from a diverging perspective. The last is the reflective observation that will have particular importance when analyzed with the inconsistencies and the understanding of learning.

During my Internship in Telstra, using of Kolb’s Problem-Solving Model helped me to define my success criteria with good recognition and development. The learning styles that I preferred could work with feeling where I could look things from a different perspective. This also have a logical process that requires clear explanation of a practical opportunity. Rather, the internship in Telstra also helped me to attain new challenges and experiences with the productive plans towards effective planning. This defined an acquisition that could work with the development capabilities in successful planning for the organisation (Albion et al. 2015).

In case of effective decision-making, The Rational Decision Making Model could help me to work through the process with good selection of steps. At first, I need to define a problem that could aid on the identified issue that I may be facing. This is where I could find a solution and make the decision with good selection criteria. Besides, the next area is to identify decision criteria in order to choose the variables so that I can find a sophisticated area to work. The next is to allocate weights to criteria so that decision process does not affect other employees of the company and such that possible solutions could be considered well. As opined by (), the other area is to develop the alternatives that could increase the promotions to lure sales and customers. However, the last two are evaluating and selecting the best alternatives that could guide me to work with decision process by finding a position that would enhance my career in Telstra.

From these two models, I can relish myself that my internship was done quite profitably with the geographic location based in Australia and has good paid nature. Besides, an effective opportunity for development and training was also given to me in Telstra to manage customer relations with their network services. They availed the 4G/LTE services, which I was in charge to observe their operations and deliver services in the given deadlines. While the Internship program was just as a early internship for me that was looking very good for me to assess my development in future very well with the opportunity for the ongoing employment in Telstra.

Section 5: Goals

On setting up the goals that are effective in my career planning and make a positive influence are intended with career satisfaction. However, these Goals are intended via SMART goal setting.

5.1. To achieve the growth in my career in 1-3 years on working with Telstra successfully

5.2. To have good satisfaction level in refining my career by experimenting and enhancing new processes for the organisation

5.3. To gather new experiences in the professional world in terms of cultures of meeting new people and increase tolerance level as well

5.5. To define the risk measures and new management principles that can enhance my career planning with resources and opportunities

The goals that I have set defines how I can work with effective planning measure in future after completing my internship and work with Telstra on given an opportunity. This is where my credibility works to show how success should I am. However, the critical reflection of each goal is demonstrated as follows:

The first goal analyzes the growth in resources that I would perceive in the coming years. This is where my career satisfaction would grow by enhancing resources and knowledge to a good will. On upgrading this, I can be professional to pursue my resources for the organisation very well. The second goal analyzes my satisfaction level that is quite prominent with the development area. I would experiment things that could enhance my abilities with good recognition in future.

The third goal is to gather new experiences in the professional world on living with the processes and the alternatives. I would certainly define a career goal, which would help to increase my change in perspectives and tolerance level by meeting new people. The fourth objective set is the Comprehensive Growth that would be effective to determine the professional level with aspects of developing and growing my proficiency in Telstra. However, the last objective set is to analyze the risk measures and bring up new management principles for the organisation, which could help me to develop my career with good prospect in future.

Section 6: Conclusion

The project paper concludes on the use of professional development practice that helps to enhance my career skills with good development and recognition. The Professional Development practice area has helped me to work with different values, which could work effective for the organisation where I was doing my internship program. Besides, the development practice also concludes on self-awareness that is defined with personality traits, emotional intelligence, and values and motivators. However, the project area also stabilized me to work on Opportunity awareness in Telstra so that I can put a learning edge to it. In order, with the help of SMART goals, I have defined effective decision making process and planning area for the development in next 1-2 years.
