Understanding Gibbs Reflective Cycle - Best Assignment Experts

This is a reflective essay based on Gibbs's reflective model regarding my experience with unemployment and the process of getting employed by using LinkedIn and the employment module.

Description

I have suffered a lot due to the lack of employment for a long time until recently I joined as an article writer and reviewer at a local magazine. I have tried to get a job for such a long time. I have told all my friends, and acquaintances about my unemployment situation. I was desperate for a job. I was highly qualified to have teaching, writing related and several other jobs. However, I did not know how to search for jobs. I did not have many connections in the corporate and academic fields. I have physically visited all my nearby schools and colleges and applied for part-time teaching jobs there. However, none of them responded with a positive reply. However, lately, I was informed about LinkedIn and the employment module by one of my tutors. I personally communicated with him about my unemployment situation. He suggested that I open an account on LinkedIn and search for a job in the employment module there. I was not active on social media. Being an introvert, I had a lethargy towards social media or direct communication with people. However, it is my situation that forced me to take his advice. I opened an account and applied for different types of jobs in several places nearby my location. I was called not by one but four of the companies and I have chosen what I found the most impactful for me. I was overwhelmed by this situation. The lack of knowledge I had regarding the use of social media presence and especially LinkedIn was keeping me from getting a job even with proper qualifications. I am so thankful to my tutor who has guided me the right way.

Feelings

Due to my unemployment, I have felt less confident in myself. I lost my confidence and belief in myself. I have thought that educational qualification is enough to get a secured position in life and in my career. However, it is wrong. In this era of social media communication, online presence and connection are the most impactful aspects of a successful professional career. While focusing on my education and my marks, I have completely forgotten to engage socially and make friends. I have been quite upset with myself at the initial stage. However, I lingered on. I did not let myself down due to the pressure of employment. I have paved the way to learn new things on LinkedIn and other such social media platforms. I have come out of my introvertedness and increased my connection. I am still in the process of learning new things.

Evaluation

One of my key strengths is my skills and knowledge. I had always been a good student. However, my key weakness is that I have poor communication skills. I cannot easily connect with people. The opportunities that I can get through my skills are ample. From different fields such as the teaching industry, writing identity, corporate sector, and so on, I can have different opportunities. I have got four jobs: two teaching jobs, one accounting job, and one job providing computer training to kids. However, one of my key threats is that there is so much competitiveness out there. I can be easily replaced by them since the majority of my competitors have strong communication skills. To get a job that pays well, one needs to have effective communication skills and an active presence in social media platforms (Zide, Elman and Shahani-Denning, 2014). I have developed myself from the perspective that educational qualification is not enough to get a high-quality job.

Analysis

My educational abilities and expertise are some of my strongest factors. I'd always done well in school. But my biggest flaw is that I'm a terrible communicator. I find it difficult to relate to others. I have a lot of opportunities because of my expertise. I may have several opportunities from various disciplines, like the teaching profession, the writing community, the corporate sector, and so on. I work four jobs: two as a teacher, one as an accountant, and one as a computer trainer for children. But the intense competition in the world now is one of my biggest threats. They can easily take my spot because the majority of my rivals are good communicators.

Conclusion

I spent a long period suffering from unemployment, but recently I started working as an article writer and reviewer at a local magazine. I've been trying to find a job for so long. I have informed all of my friends and acquaintances about my current employment status. I was in dire need of work. I was well qualified for a variety of careers, including teaching and writing-related ones. But I had no idea how to look for work. In the business and intellectual worlds, I didn't have many ties. I physically went to all the colleges and schools in my area and submitted applications for part-time teaching positions there. However, none of them has given a supportive response. One requires strong communication abilities and an active social media presence in order to land a well-paying job (Koch, Gerber and De Klerk, 2018). I did not let myself down as a result of work strain. With the help of LinkedIn and other similar social networking networks, I have paved my path to learning new things. I've overcome my introversion and improved my connections. I'm still learning new things in my career and in the LinkedIn employment module.

Action plan

Firstly I need to develop my communication strategy. To develop my communication and social media skills, I am learning new things and developing skills in this regard. I am taking a free online course for communication skills development. I have already attended several webinars regarding the importance of social media presence and how to enhance these skills. I have read a book about self-marketing on social media sites. I am continuously trying to enhance my connections on LinkedIn so that I can have better job opportunities in the future.
