What Does Leadership Mean to Me

 According to my understanding, leadership is an individual's or a group's ability to influence and guide followers or other members of an organization is referred to as leadership. Leadership is fundamentally a never-ending effort of persuasion. It can be regarded in the context of a leader's and his followers' mutual relationships. Leadership is a dynamic process that merits investigation. It's a relational process that involves interactions between leaders, members, and sometimes external stakeholders (Brodtkorb, Skaar & Slettebø, 2019). Good leaders are cultivated rather than born. You can become an excellent leader if you have the drive and the willpower to do so. There are various kinds of leadership as I have come to know about various types of Leadership modules that are related to the structural direction and development of my knowledge throughout the course.

 From the material presented in the module, I have chosen two different styles of Leadership for critical assessment. The strategic development of knowledge about the Authoritative Leadership Style has been presented here. An individual who practices authoritarian leadership, often referred to as autocratic leadership, has complete decision-making authority and complete authority over subordinates (Brænder & Holsting, 2022). With little to no involvement from their team or followers, an authoritarian leader decides on policies, procedures, and group goals. In businesses and organizations, such as those in the construction, manufacturing, and military, where decisions must be made quickly and effectively, where specific tasks must be completed in a specific manner, and where there is little room for error, authoritarian leadership is advantageous.

The relevant consideration of necessary information relating to the Participative Leadership Style has been presented here. Becoming a participative leader has a straightforward process. Instead of using a top-down method to oversee a team, everybody there collaborates to make decisions and handle business concerns, occasionally using an informal vote to address difficulties or challenges (Chan, 2019). The ideal workplaces for participatory leadership are those with less stress and those that are less likely to require urgent turnaround times and initiatives. This is so because a strong leader takes time, especially when managing a big team or organization. Democratic leaders must be ready to wait before they can take any decisive action because getting everyone's input or viewpoint doesn't always happen instantly. The appropriate use of proper critical direction has been considered for the proper presentation of leadership in this approach.

How is Leadership Important

Within this course structure, we have been effectively presented with the importance and significance of leadership and direction. It is necessary to associate and evaluate the proper perspectives relating to the development and management of the various objectives. I have learned a lot about the valid guidance of leadership qualities and application. I want to discuss some important aspects of the various features of leadership and why it is highly important under direction:

  1. Leadership Initiates Action: Even before the work begins, leadership initiates at the very beginning. A leader is someone who communicates policies and plans to subordinates so that they can begin working (Asbari, Santoso & Prasetya, 2020)

  2. Leadership Provides Motivation: Employees are motivated by financial and non-financial incentives, and work is completed efficiently as a result of the leader's efforts. In a person's life, motivation is the driving factor

  3.  Leadership Provides Guidance: Employees are not only supervised but also guided in their job by a leader. He teaches his subordinates how to conduct their jobs efficiently so that their efforts are not wasted (Asbari, Santoso & Prasetya, 2020)

  4. Leadership Creates Confidence: A leader recognizes employees' contributions, properly explains their roles, and guides them toward their objectives. A leader instills trust in his or her subordinates in the organization (Till, McKimm & Swanwick, 2020)

  5. Leadership Facilitates Change: A leader persuades, clarifies, and encourages colleagues to accept any organizational change with little resistance or dissatisfaction. He ensures that personnel is not concerned about the changes.

  6. Leadership Assures Coordination: A leader achieves organizational cohesion by balancing the personal interests of employees with the organization's aims (Asbari, Santoso & Prasetya, 2020)

Reasons for Leadership Being Important

There are various reasons that I can state would be concerning the importance of leadership. I would hereby like to state my valid reasons why the respective approaches to leadership are important within an organizational setting. It is highly required to evaluate the valid direction considering the strategic reasons for the significance of leadership and direction. The appropriate development of these pointers below is what I have qualified for my valid reasons for evaluating the importance of leadership:

  • Implementing Vision and Values: Most companies have a vision of where they want to go in the future and how they want to be viewed by their customers, stakeholders, and the general public (Gandolfi & Stone, 2018)

  • Development of Morale Boost: Without their employees, businesses would be nothing. Recruiting new employees regularly is time-consuming and costly, therefore raising employee morale to help retain employees is critical to a company's success

  • Process Effective Communication: To avoid miscommunication, it is critical to ensure that everyone in the firm is informed when major business choices are made, such as a new strategy or a shift in direction (Gandolfi & Stone, 2018)

  • The motivation of Subordinates: Employees will be motivated by strong company leaders, whether through monetary incentives such as salary and bonuses or by the establishment of schemes and reward systems that benefit all employees

Purpose of Leadership

I have always evaluated the standpoint of strong leadership direction as necessary for any organization to thrive. I would like to state the respective purpose of leadership through strategic direction and planning for the objectives for evaluation. What I understand leadership purpose is a declaration about who the leader is as a person and how you incorporate those unique attributes into your leadership so that you may flourish as a leader is what a leadership purpose is. First and foremost, the goal of leadership is about your values and what matters most to you in life. It's also known as your "why" statement, which is the cause, purpose, or beliefs that drive you to do your best work daily.

Considering valid objectives, it is necessary to validate how certain leaders within organizations think about the concepts of leadership development. The appropriate strategy is necessary to be processed through strategic analysis of the appropriate leadership management approach. Some people believe that leading with purpose entails delivering results through others, while others believe that the purpose of a leader is to generate more leaders. Others believe that the leader's primary role is to see the vision through (Uster, Vashdi & Beeri, 2022). This perspective is strategized through proper determination and management. I would like to associate with the proper evaluation and development of the perspectives through the strategic development of certain questions that would determine the purpose of leadership and its significance:

  1. What are the characteristics of effective leaders?

  2. Who does a good leader serve?

  3. What is the purpose of effective leadership?

  4. How do the leaders help their important stakeholders enhance their quality of life and careers?
